Was the seizure of an Israeli-linked cargo ship near the Strait of Hormuz the Iranian response to the Damascus strike on April 1?
Sina Toossi, a senior fellow at the Center for International Policy think tank, doesn’t think so.
“I doubt this is Iran’s retaliation for the Damascus strike,” Tossi said on X.
“Rather, it is likely an Iranian signal to the US & Europe that if they intervene on behalf of Israel, Iran will disrupt Persian Gulf shipping (similar to what is happening in the Red Sea),” he added.
