The fastest growing church in the world is in Iran. Over the past 45 years, there has been unrelenting persecution against Iranians who decided convert to Christianity. It is illegal to even possess a Bible in the Farsi language, and telling others about the Gospel will result in grave punishment. Christian leaders and missionaries have been arrested, tortured, thrown in prison and even executed for "threatening" Islam. The govt refuses to allow Iranians to convert to Christianity and there is no freedom of religion. Under such authoritarian Islamic rule, it is surprising to hear that in the last 10 years, Iran has seen an estimated million or more converts to Christianity. Over in Afghanistan, the growth of the church is almost as phenomenal. No doubt, the people in these 2 countries have grown disillusioned with their Islamic leaders and their faith.
