Is Singapore a nation or just a marketplace?

Foong Swee Fong critiques Dr Tan See Leng’s remarks on immigration, arguing that Singapore’s prosperity was built on citizens’ sacrifices, not just foreign labour. He questions whether the government is building a nation or merely a marketplace, pointing to declining fertility rates and the growing reliance on foreign workers.

Well, I know it is Singapore, INC. It was never a nation for homes and thus, a marketplace full of merchants and mercenaries squabbling over limited resources . Those who are rich and powerful are now the Salt and Oil Traders who owns the fields and the lives of workers.
