Unofficial results: Pakatan Harapan’s Maszlee Malik still trailing Barisan Nasional’s Abd Mutalip Abd Rahman in Layang-Layang (N27). Maszlee, who is Simpang Renggam MP, has garnered 2,742 votes so far while Abd Mutalip has 3,981.

Perikatan Nasional’s Alagenthiran Krishnan has 553 votes while Parti Pejuang (Dr M) Tanah Air’s Ahmad Shafiq Othaman has 68 so far.

Maszlee was rumoured to be Pakatan’s mentri besar candidate although the former education minister has denied this.

A resounding win in Johor means Umno leaders aligned to Najib will likely press party colleague and prime minister Ismail Sabri Yaaakob to dissolve Parliament and call for a general election as early as the second half of this year.

Hishammuddin bin Hussein is a Malaysian politician who has served as Senior Minister in charge of Defence and Minister of Defence for the second term in the Barisan Nasional administration under Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob since August 2021

Grandparents: Tun Hussein bin Dato' Onn was a Malaysian politician who served as third prime minister of Malaysia.

Barisan Nasional’s Ng Yew Aik is unofficially leading in the Puteri Wangsa state seat with a 709 majority ahead of his rivals in the six-cornered fight.

Votes counted from 63 out of 184 polling streams saw Ng securing 6,555 votes. Amira Aisya Abd Aziz of Muda with 5,846 votes.


Other candidates are Perikatan Nasional’s Loh Kah Yong (3,644), Parti Bangsa Malaysia’s Steven Choong Shiau Yoon (674), Adzrin Adam (Independent) with 132 votes and Parti Pejuang Tanah Air's Dr Khairil Anwar Razali with 927 votes.

Meanwhile, Barisan candidate for the Kahang seat R. Vidyananthan garnered a 3,238 majority ahead of his rivals from Perikatan, Pakatan and Pejuang.

JOHOR BARU: The Election Commission (EC) says Barisan Nasional has won enough seats to take a two-thirds majority in the Johor state election.

As at 12.06am Sunday (March 13), the EC said Barisan Nasional had officially won in 38 seats, giving it a two-thirds majority.

"This is important for PH to be prepared in facing the upcoming general election, especially after the win of Umno and Barisan Nasional (BN).

which we know are raring to hold (the general election) soon," he said at a press conference at Le Grandeur Senai on March 12 (Saturday).
According to Aminolhuda,Johor PH chairman the coalition had secured 12 state seats in the Johor election namely, 10 seats from DAP, one from PKR and one from Amanah. Malaysian United Democratic Alliance. 
(Muda), which was collaborating with PH, took one seat, that of Puteri Wangsa.
In the 2018 general election, BN lost Johor for the first time since the first state polls were held in 1959, winning only 18 seats
