After losing the home leg 1-3 to Thailand, a loss by the same score line in the away leg is commendable. The fact that S'pore even managed to score a goal is an achievement. That is how far we have slipped.

S'pore's youth development system has failed to produce genuine talent to perform on the international stage. As such, we need to identify foreign professionals with roots to S'pore i.e. those with at least 1 parent or grandparent who is/was a S'porean. Other options include recruiting footballers plying their trade in the S'pore Premier League for at least 5 years or even to fast track foreigners to citizenship. If countries all over the world are doing this to strengthen their teams, why can't the FAS follow suit? The eligibility of such players is approved by FIFA.
