If Trump’s plans come to pass, the price of South Korean steel exports will immediately rise by 25%. As declining cost competitiveness leads to reduced imports, US steel and other US businesses are poised to fill part of the resulting supply gap in the US market. The import market currently represents around 30% of US steel consumption.
