It was a controlled rapid descent to avoid low pressure in the cabin. Very misleading for SCMP to use the word "plummet" in the headline.

They have a problem with the pressurization system that's why they dropped 7,600m in 5 minutes.
Unfortunately, people suffered due to the huge drop in such a short period because the pressurization system is faulty.
