Katong is very far from my house so the only laksa I like is from my mother. She no longer make as now very old and very tedious as I remember need go provision buy the coconut then the owner use machine to grind out. Then I bring home I see my mum use a cloth to wrap and try to squeeze out the juices. The laksa gravy so taxing to do.

Now if want to eat I see price good then buy I not particular about food. To me food is fill stomach so I don't die of hunger.

If ask my favourite food it would be carrot cake aka chai tao kway. I prefer black colour version. The ingredient are so much simpler.

The janggut laksa tastes slightly better and slightly cheaper. But now all quite expensive so seldom eat now.

When I was primary school, my uncle used to bring me to this laksa stall behind Cathy Cinema
I remember the owner looks like a university professor
There’s a stall in JB which many claims is the original version of this stall
Although a bit more watery

Yes times have changed now laksa mee rebus mee siam all come in prepack kind. You put in boiling water boil until soft cut the packet and viola that important gravy come out.

I also tried Prima nice but a bit expensive if they can sell $2 per pack better haha. Their taste is scientific think got employ those study food technology graduate to reproduce that taste out. Very close for their laksa flavor.

But for carrot cake cannot find prepack kind think this dish need to be cooked live cannot frozen kind 🤔

Ya it's quite expensive but one packet is very big and filling. Sometimes you yearn for laksa and you dunwan to go out. This is the best alternative liao.

My mother makes carrot cake for me so no problem with this food  Big Grin
