To me PM Lee staying on as Senior Minister means we cannot expect changes that will significantly improve our lives and enhance the Singaoorean society. The direction we are headed is only good for the elites and those connected to them. The ordinary citizens suffer as a result.

even the company has 90% foreigners, 60% will still vote for PAP.

thus, as long as PAP has 60% votes, there will be no change.

PMEs who get laid off probably won't qualify for any subsidies or unemployment relief, so they will fall below the radar. Those older retrenched white collar workers may take up to 2-3 years to find a similar level of work, so they are taken off the list of unemployed because the govt deems them to be retired or no longer interested in finding work. This keeps the no. of unemployed "unrealistically" low.
