KOMPAS.com - The parent company of Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp , Meta, announced that it will stop supporting WhatsApp on several mobile phones ( HP ) with the old Android operating system (OS) on January 1, 2025.  More specifically, they stopped WhatsApp support for phones with Android 4.4 (KitKat) and below. Android KitKat was launched in 2013, so devices with this OS are probably more than 10 years old.

However, as a reference, here are some old Android phones that will no longer be able to use WhatsApp as of January 1, 2025, summarized by KompasTekno from PhoneArena, Monday (12/23/2024). Asus Zenfone 4 Asus Zenfone 5 Asus Zenfone 6 Samsung Galaxy S3 Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini Motorola Moto G (1st Generation) Motorola Razr HD Moto E 2014 Huawei Ascend P7 Honor 3C HTC One X HTC One X Plus HTCDesire 500 HTCDesire 601 LG Optimus G LG Nexus 4 LG G2 Mini LG L90 Oppo Find 7 Oppo Find 7a Sony Xperia Z Sony Xperia SP Sony Xperia T Sony Xperia V Xiaomi Redmi 1S Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G Other phones not on the list may also be affected. Users are advised to check the operating system of their old Android phones, whether they are also using Android KitKat OS or not.

iPhone 5 and below, which do not support iOS 15, will no longer be able to install WhatsApp starting May 5, 2025.  On the official website , WhatsApp can still be installed on iPhones with iOS 12 and above.
