1. TikTok is owned by Byte Dance.
2. Byte dance as a Chinese corporation bound by Chjnese laws require corporations to hand over data and have CCP members on the board.

Social media is a powerful force to influence population to certain points of views. China announced it is embarking on unrestricted warfare encompassing economic, propaganda, cyber etc . China has also banned Facebook, IG, Twitter.

India which as a border dispute with China banned Tiktok as it can be used to spread propaganda towards India.

As China takes a more adversarial stand attacking US from all sides, US and its allies have to be on the defensive and ban potential harmful use of social media against them...

I really don't see the case for TikTok not to be banned in these countries.

The Singaporean CEO is being used to portray and neutral front and is quite popular. But he is being used. At the end of the day he has no way to defy instructions and policies from his parent company.

I, being poor, have only my dreams; I have spread my dreams under your feet; Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.

Your Google and Apple account together provides all the surveillance for the US govt lah... Don't play play... Very dark one. Even when you go to airplane mode whole day, once you turn on any internet connection your entire day's info gets uploaded onto apple and Google... With or without a SIM card... Lol
