Markets on tenterhooks as talks continue
It is unlike anything the Malaysian stocks and currency markets have ever seen, and unsurprisingly, investors are spooked.
The future direction of this country and its policies on business and investments will be determined in the next few hours.
Without a strong majority, the new prime minister will constantly be beset with uncertainty when formulating economic policies that will take the nation forward.
For the markets, the first signs are already not optimistic. As the horse-trading continued from the weekend, local investors took off, leading to a 17.78-point decline in the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) just 13-minutes into the new day’s trading session.
The ringgit fared no better, extending its decline from last week to open 290bps lower at 4.5780/4.5880 against the US dollar from its close at 4.5490/4.5565 last Thursday.

BN and PN engage in racial/religious politics or corruption.
Most logical is for PH to work with the East Malaysia parties, vice versa. No clash in basic ideology over race or religion.

Is this the 'Seri Pacific' move?
The race is on to capture Putrajaya, with both Pakatan Harapan chief Anwar Ibrahim and Perikatan Nasional chief Muhyiddin Yassin claiming to have the majority to take charge.
The Yang di-Pertuan Agong has given the coalition leaders until 2pm today to prove their claims.

PAS has a Syariah law in the country
UMNO wants to protect Malay rights
The Chinese and other non-Malay will be truly farked!

Next coalition govt need not involve DAP, says Johor Umno
PETALING JAYA: The next coalition government does not need to involve DAP, says Johor Umno chief Hasni Mohammad.
“Therefore, Johor Umno is of the view that the coalition (government) formed does not need to include DAP,” he said in a statement.Hasni also appeared to dismiss calls for Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to resign, saying the upcoming party election should be used as a framework for Umno’s restoration.
“Johor Umno believes that the Umno president will take clear responsibility (over BN’s poor performance in the general election) for the sake of the party and the Malay people.”
The former Johor menteri besar said it was crucial for the party to restore Malaysians’ confidence in BN and Umno. While BN leaders had met Pakatan Harapan leaders at the Seri Pacific Hotel in Kuala Lumpur this morning, coalition chairman Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said no discussions had been held yet.

King gives parties one-day extension for PM candidate
PETALING JAYA: The Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, has given party leaders and heads of coalitions a one-day extension for the deadline to propose their prime ministerial candidate.
In a statement, Istana Negara said they have until 2pm tomorrow to submit their candidate.
Comptroller of the Royal Household Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin said this followed party leaders’ requests for an extension to the deadline.
The leaders were initially supposed to submit their candidates by 2pm today.
“His Majesty urged and advised Malaysians to be patient and remain calm until the process of forming the new government and the nomination of the 10th prime minister is completed.
“His Majesty urges the people to pray for this process to go smoothly in the interest of the nation.”
