Russia’s assault on Bakhmut continues with reports of street to street fighting in the city.

According to the deputy mayor of Bakhmut, Oleksandr Marchenko, Russian forces have yet to take control of the city. However, the city itself has been almost completely dqestroyed he said, speaking to BBC Radio 4’s Today programme.

The city is now surrounded on three sides by the Russian army and Wagner Group forces, according to the UK’s Ministry of Defence Saturday intelligence update. The update also said Bakhmut was under “increasingly severe pressure, with intense fighting taking place in and around the city”.
