According to accounts from the Bakhmut area, Russian forces were bogged down to the south of the city, to the north they had advanced over a kilometre into the outskirts of Yahidne. Large assaults were also being reported to the south-west towards Ivanivske in the direction of the T0504 highway with the aim of cutting access to the city from the west.

Ukrainian troops in the town reported that the Russian tactic appeared to be the familiar one of throwing large groups of troops against their defences, be sheer weight of numbers, even if that meant taking huge casualties.

Recent footage from Bakhmut showed Ukrainian armoured vehicles pouring autocannon and machine-gun fire into Russian positions.

With the situation in Bakhmut described as difficult, the head of Ukraine’s land forces, Oleksandr Syrskyi, visited the sector on Saturday to consult with commanders.

The Bakhmut sector is one of six areas where Russian forces have been expended increased effort in the past three weeks as part of a stepped-up offensive along the eastern front that has yet to produce any significant gains.

The defence minister said, despite recent comments by Wester leaders No warplanes would not be forthcoming. There will be planes, he predicted. The question is just what kind exactly … Consider that this mission is already completed.

So far Ukraine has won support from Baltic nations and Poland in its quest to obtain Western fighter jets. But several Western leaders have expressed concern that providing warplanes could provoke Kremlin and draw their countries deeper into the conflict, which has cost tens of thousands of lives and wreaked massive destruction.

Defence Minister Oleksii Reznikov told a news conference on Sunday that Russia will launch a major offensive in the coming weeks, and Ukraine has soldiers and resources to repel such an attack.

Ukraine’s military will halt Putin operation despite tanks and other weapon systems from the West not arriving in time, he said.

When the Russian invasion began on 24 February 2022, the world eagerly watched on. Numerous international media outlets predicted that Ukraine would fall.

Ukraine probably cannot hold off Russia forever,” read a headline from Foreign Policy Magazine. “If Kharkiv falls, Ukraine falls,” claimed despite these doom and gloom approaches,

The Ukrainians persevered. In February and till 2023, Ukrainians withstood the Russian incursion. Then, in Only one month, and to April 2022, the Ukrainians launched a massive  counter-offensive.

The Ukrainian successfully forced the Russians out of the northern part of the country. Then, over the course of the year, the Ukrainians reclaimed ten of thousands of many square miles of territory in eastern and southern Ukraine. Clapping

Throughout the war, the Ukrainians have shown that they are determined to win this war. Their grit and teeth resilience have demonstrated that they will do anything to defend their country, and they will not stop halfway.

This has had a profound impact on the international community.  Clapping

Belarusian anti-war partisans claim to have severely damaged a Russian military aircraft in what an opposition leader has called the “most successful diversion” since the beginning of the war.

BYPOL, the Belarusian partisan organisation, said it had used drones to strike the Machulishchy airfield 12km from Minsk, severely damaging a Beriev A-50 airborne early warning and control aircraft (Awacs).

It is possible that we will also destroy arms depots or military equipment on Russian territory, for example around the city of Belgorod,” The spring counter offensive is aimed to “liberate the entire country” and push out about 370,000 Russian soldiers fighting across Ukraine, Skibitsky said.

The anticipated spring counteroffensive came after top defense officials said Ukraine was preparing for a major push to change the dynamic of the war. Currently, Russia is pushing on the eastern front as it masses forces trying to capture the city of Bakhmut in Donetsk Oblast after months

Ukraine said recently its striking distance has increased. After a series of explosions were reported in Russian-occupied city of Mariupol, southeastern. Last week military said that area was “no longer completely unreachable” for Ukrainian forces.

Drone strikes targeting Engels air base in western Russia in December, is Ukraine’s strategic to undermine Russia’s missile capabilities, This is Ukraine’s increased willingness to hit behind Russian lines.

In an interview published in early January, Ukraine’s military intelligence chief Kyrylo Budanov said there may be further strikes “deeper and deeper” inside Russia.  Laughing

U.K. is pushing for West to supply fighter jets from eastern European allies so as Ukraine can have a chance to fight back.

British Defence Secretary Ben Wallace said, this would allow Ukraine to receive more MiG 29 & Su-24 fighters to defend against Russian Putin aggression, speaking on Sky News, he stressed U.K.  No to, not sending its Typhoon jets “in the short-term”.

Russia’s assault on Bakhmut continues with reports of street to street fighting in the city.

According to the deputy mayor of Bakhmut, Oleksandr Marchenko, Russian forces have yet to take control of the city. However, the city itself has been almost completely dqestroyed he said, speaking to BBC Radio 4’s Today programme.

The city is now surrounded on three sides by the Russian army and Wagner Group forces, according to the UK’s Ministry of Defence Saturday intelligence update. The update also said Bakhmut was under “increasingly severe pressure, with intense fighting taking place in and around the city”.

Vilkha old old missiles used at the frontline since the first weeks of the great war, have a range of up to 70 km and warhead weighing 250 kg, against 92 km and 91 kg of GMLRS M30 and M31 missiles of various modifications, which Ukraine receive from allies for M142 HIMARS and M270 MLRS MLRS systems.

Now. Modified Vilkha-M missiles already slightly overlap GMLRS M30 / M31 – they can “bring” the occupiers a gift weighing 170 kg at a range of up to 110 km. The new version of the Vilkha-M1, which Vynnyk told The War Zone about, has an even greater range – up to 150 km when using the same 170 kg warhead, or 110-120 km with a 236 kg warhead and now...

Even more advanced Vilkha-M2 (P624M-2) will be able to deliver a warhead weighing 170 kg to a range of up to 200 km. Tongue
