Let me put this in another perspective, you can pay $1 or $1bil and they can still do nothing. So find people who really want to serve, not those after the big prize money.

Of course the very talented are well paid out there hence the current pay system. BUT many are not from private sector instead they were drafted from army and civil service. Which then begs the question of whether they are truly worth the salt. Perhaps only after they are in true private sector we should then employ then and no GLC related so call private entities.

Going back to the topic of inflation. Singapore is a small country hence a price taker. Likewise our economic growth is largely determined by global economic condition; there is only so much priming a govt can do and it's ridiculous to see the same garden or walkway refurbished every 3 years before any signs of wear and tear.

The only possible tactical move a govt can do to help with inflation is to lower taxation, levies - stuff such as gst, petrol tax, utilities levies, property tax, stamp duties etc.

Inflations like these are really depressing. When people says SGD is so easy to earn and the currency is much more higher, but they don't know is that the gov is raising the living costs. We all citizens some more have to pay all the stupid taxes.

If you think SG is really Low income tax rates

but they tax it back in other ways ie levies, COE, GST, tariffs, surcharges . . .
