Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) confirmed in a statement that its container ship MSC United VIII was attacked while traveling through the Red Sea on Tuesday (26th). Yemen 's Houthi armed group has claimed responsibility and said it had tried to attack Israel with drones .

Houthi spokesman Sharia said in a televised speech that the organization targeted the cargo ship, which he determined to be the MSC United container ship, because the ship's crew did not respond to its warnings.
