Japan issued its first new banknotes in two decades

A majority of transactions in Japan still are done in cash and cashless payments have been slower to catch on than in many other countries.

“Although the world is moving toward cashless interactions, we believe cash remains important as a way for safely settling payments anywhere and anytime,” said Bank of Japan Gov. Kazuo Ueda.

Heard the existing notes will be obsolete soon, must exchange for new notes at Japanese bank.

IF U SELL YR PRESENT OLD NOTES AT MONEY CHANGER THEY WILL GIVE U A RATE AT LEAST 5% LOWER.

Better get rid of the old notes now. The demand is still there. Later the money changer also doesn't want them.
