Why they removed the ladder without checking that it is safe to do so that nobody is stepping out of the plane. This guy will end up paralysed. Such a fall will crack his hip bone, buttock, spine. Lucky his head din hit the tarmac. Else he will surely die or in a coma. Given such a fall and the likely outcome, its better to die then suffer for life bearing the pain.
