Management consulting firm Accenture lays off 19,000 employees

Accenture, a large global management consulting company, announced that it will lay off 19,000 employees, accounting for about 2.5% of the company's total workforce. The company said the layoffs were part of a response to customers cutting spending in response to the uncertain global economic outlook, with severance costs involving approximately US$1.2 billion.
