In the meantime
Quote:On Jan 9, 2025, the police said that between Aug 28, 2024, and the end of the year, at least 1,591 cases of impersonation scams featuring Chinese companies were reported, with total losses amounting to at least $27.9 million.
As mimister of Home Affairs he is in charge of the SPF . The crime of scams has been escalating. What is the police doing?
I find the most useless thing which the govt keep doing and completely does not work is to tell people to "Beware of scams" because vctims cannot tell that its a scam. Its like telling people to "beware of bad people" ..but you cant tell who is a bad person so what is the use. In fact these days many scams start with the scammer telling the victim the he has been scammed and he is the police calling to help. So the scammer now leaverage on the "Beware of scam" messaging by the govt to conduct his scam.
Believe me there is more the govt can do. And those of you who believe the govt has done every thing it can shoulf considers how the UK reduced scams to nearly zero...and why other govts are following suit.
Stopping the majroity of fraud involve 2 steps
1. Stop overseas transfers.except at bank branches or special applications with waiting time. Make exceptions for busiensses.
2. Tigthen the receiving end of transfers to make them traceable so you can catch perpertrators. If both sender and receivers aee local you should be able to catch
3. Make financial institutions compensate victims.
