MOE’s defence of Sengkang Green Primary bullying case faces scrutiny over victim-blaming and dismissive tone

The Ministry of Education’s (MOE) response to the Sengkang Green Primary bullying case has drawn strong backlash. Netizens criticised its tone as dismissive and questioned why the victim’s “hurtful behaviour” was highlighted. Many fear this framing could silence victims, with calls mounting for stricter anti-bullying measures and greater accountability from educators and parents.

Victim’s mother raised Sengkang Green bullying weeks earlier; claimed school told her no 100% safety guarantee

MOE said Sengkang Green Primary acted firmly in a bullying case, suspending pupils and arranging a meeting with the victim’s parents on 18 Aug. The ministry criticised the parent for going public on 15 Aug before the meeting. But her XHS posts showed she had raised concerns as early as 10 Aug, claiming a vice-principal admitted the school “cannot fully guarantee” her daughter’s safety.

Is it the victim is a China girl and the bullies are malay/Indian?

Or the victim is a Singaporean-Chinese girl?
