Car-sharing worsens road safety in S'pore
#1

According to road safety experts and academics, there is evidence based on studies overseas that car-sharing causes more traffic accidents. A 2019 study from South Korea found that car-sharing worsened road safety owing to drivers' irresponsible attitudes, which stemmed from young and inexperienced hirers who care little for the vehicles, since they do not own them. Apart from the lack of experience, many hirers are rusty since they seldom drive, and also allow their friends who may not even possess a valid licence to drive, owing to a lack of checks by companies on who is actually behind the wheel of such car-sharing vehicles.

Allowing inexperienced hirers who seldom drive to be on the road once in a blue moon, is like trusting a surgeon who comes out of retirement to operate on you.
