But it is said in the narrative that the daughter needs money for her studies............ crying

The mother must have been brainwashed by the nunnery cult.  I wonder if the abbot wanted to be a rock star or not Big Grin

Hmm any parallels to the Right Rev Con Hee?

How we relate to this matter basically stems from how we ourselves frame our own relationships with our own parents and children.

Actually what this woman did was not in compliance with the Right practice of the Eight Fold Path. One cannot just let go and be detached from worldly matters abruptly by donating away everything including one's purse to the Sangha. Before doing that a path walker and a good temple abbot will ensure that the disciple had settled completely all his/her worldly matters. If I remember correctly Chinese Mahayana Buddhism will not ordain anyone by shaving the head and burn six incense marks on the head until the person had settled all his worldly affairs to the satisfaction of everyone including his/her family. .... Basically put, you donch take care of your children when they growing up, when you grow old, you also donch expect your children to take care of you Big Grin

Too bad Msia no parents maintenance act but Spore got. It is for parents to go sue children for monies not the other way.

My spouse Msia and I see her mother working at 80 to feed 50+ yr old son who dream of being boss and never been an employee in his life. Always think of pattern to get monies. Latest antics is want to grow vegetables be boss so take monies from old mother haha

Agreed, that's why the children in return don't take care back their parents, hence the need to sue them.

Yes, that's why our thinking is shaped by the experiences around us.  Agree with you.  No one size fits all.
