Labuan Member of Parliament (MP) Suhaili Abdul Rahman accused the Malaysian opposition party of violating his constitutional rights to personal liberty and free speech, among others.

One of the six Members of Parliament (MP) expelled from Malaysia’s opposition party Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) for supporting Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim is suing the party for revoking his membership.

Decision harmed the country’s parliamentary democracy, which was an offence under Section 124B of the Penal Code, covering activity detrimental to parliamentary democracy, according to local media.

Mr Suhaili is one of seven elected representatives stripped of their membership for backing the Malaysian premier. Six are federal MPs and the other is a Selangor state assemblyman.

They were sacked from the party last month, after failing to retract their support for Mr Anwar and not responding to a written instruction from the party’s supreme leadership council to pledge allegiance to the party.

Selat Klang assemblyman and former Selangor Bersatu chairman Abdul Rashid Asari also declared support for the leadership of Selangor chief minister Amirudin Shari. Mr Amirudin is a member of Mr Anwar’s Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR).

Claiming up fuel price will only affect lich\elite ish the same kind of lie like claiming up GST will only affect lich\elite. Fuel will affect the cost of transport and logistic, and logistic will directly or indirectly affect the cost of all kind of consumable products in the country regardless of household items or luxury goods.

Anwar ish destined for failure. So far his boleh land economy revival plan ish still sticking to his predecessors OBOR concept to try attract RMB tourists and RMB investment, but have no other real alternatives. If AT economy not recovering, boleh land will suffer together.

Economy not good mean tax revenue also lesser, lesser tax revenue mean some welfare and expenses would need to cut, or some other form of income must be explored. Supposed fuel price ish one easy way to do so. After all sheep wool must still be harvested from the sheep one way or another.

Labuan MP drags Bersatu to court over effective expulsion for supporting Anwar. Suhaili accused Bersatu of violating his constitutional rights to personal liberty, free speech & association, for obstructing him in his duty to serve his Labuan constituents by obtaining development funds for their benefit. He also accused Bersatu of acting criminally in alleging its decision harmed the country’s parliamentary democracy, which was an offence under Section 124B of the Penal Code.

Suhaili alleged revocation was effectively an expulsion, which would safeguard his seat under exceptions allowed under anti-hopping law incorporated into Article 49A of the Federal Constitution, he & five other former Bersatu MPs previously declared support for PM Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim despite being members of the Opposition party. Ya!. Aside from Shuhaili, & 5 are Datuk Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid (Kuala Kangsar), Mohd Azizi Abu Naim (Gua Musang), Zahari Kechik (Jeli), Datuk Syed Abu Hussin Hafiz Syed Abdul Fasal (Bukit Gantang) dan Datuk Zulkafperi Hanapi (Tanjung Karang).

Bersatu subsequently sacked the Labuan MP and suspended the others. Yesterday, Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin criticised Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul’s for refusing to declare vacancies in the six MPs’ seats, saying it contravened the letter and spirit of anti-hopping law. Earlier today, Anwar defended Johari's decision and said the Speaker acted in accordance with the Federal Constitution.

Any subsidy given is painful when removed.

But it ma be necessary to go through the pain then to misallocate resources.

Yes people suffer one round of price hikes.

But the money saved can be channelled to help the poorest folks who need it most.

Unfortunately many people only measure a policy by the benefit they receive but faiil to appreciate that someone who needs jt more is getting it.

Anwar made a bold move ...and a right move but human selfish nature may work against him.

I, being poor, have only my dreams; I have spread my dreams under your feet; Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.

Don't cherry-pick the law to suit your fancy, Anwar tells Opposition. KUALA LUMPUR: The Opposition should not pick choose only those parts of the law that suit its desires, says Datuk Seri Anwar.

The PM Anwar said this is what was done in the case of the "Bersatu six", who were ejected by their party after they pledged support for him. The (Dewan Rakyat) Speaker read the law and Constitution in its entirety and based his interpretation on those (to allow the MPs to keep their seats).

Najib, son fail to postpone RM1.7 bil bankruptcy notice hearing. Datuk Seri Najib Razak and his son Datuk Nazifuddin failed to stall the bankruptcy proceeding initiated by the Inland Revenue Board (IRB) to recoup billions of ringgit in unpaid tax from the duo.

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Najib Razak and his son Datuk Nazifuddin failed to stall the bankruptcy proceeding initiated by the Inland Revenue Board (IRB) to recoup RM1.7 billion in unpaid tax from the duo.

This is after High Court here rejected father & son's application (for postponement) today. Lawyer Muhammad Farhan Shafee, who appeared for duo, said they requested a postponement b'cos they had filed an appeal for a tax reassessment with the Special Commissioners of Income Tax. "We will appeal to the decision," he said briefly when after the proceeding.

The incarcerated former prime minister and his son has exhausted their final avenue to overturn the High Court's decision compelling them to settle RM1.69 billion and RM37.6 million in unpaid taxes and penalties respectively last year. This was after the Federal Court's ruling on Oct 16, 2023 that affirmed IRB's summary judgement compelling them to settle the amounts for the period between 2011 and 2017.

The top court, in an unanimous decision, ruled Section 103(1) of the Income Tax Act (ITA) provides that tax payable under an assessment shall be due and payable on the due date, regardless of whether the person appeals against the assessment. The court said the present incarnation of the ITA was enacted by the legislature to facilitate the expeditious collection of government revenue and to deter tactical attempts from would-be tax evaders to delay the payment of outstanding taxes.

Najib and Nazifuddin were served with a bankruptcy notice three years ago following their failure to pay the disputed monies to the IRB.
According to the notice sighted by the New Straits Times, the former prime minister has to pay RM1.69 billion with interest at five per cent, for the period between July 22, 2020 and Feb 4, 2021 amounting to RM45.9 million from the date of the order of the summary judgement as well as costs of RM15,000. This brings the accumulated sum to RM1.73 billion. Meanwhile, Nazifuddin has to pay RM37.6 million with interest at five per cent for the period between July 6, 2020 and Feb 4, 2021, amounting to RM1.1 million from the date of the order of a summary judgement as well as costs of RM10,000. This brings the accumulated sum to RM38.7 million.

On July 22, 2020, High Court allowed the IRB's application for a summary judgement be entered against Najib in its suit to recover RM1.69 bil in taxes from latter for period between 2011 & 2017. On July 6 same year, another High Court ordered Nazifuddin, 39, to pay RM37,644,810.73 in unpaid taxes to the IRB.

PAS is creating a storm in a tankard over this event. Surely it is the outcome or result of the exercise which truly matters, rather than the method or means employed to achieve it. CcAll settled', Hamzah says over PN 'storm in teacup'

The government is stingy with its funding. Vernacular schools need money, and this is one way of achieving it. As far as I am aware, no one has complained about some previous major polo tournaments in Malaysia, which has, among its sponsors, the Veuve Clicquot champagne house and Carlsberg. So, is PAS’ criticism based on class divisions or racial bias?

Even after Malaysia national shuttlers had returned home from 2024 Paris Olympics with two bronze medals, politicians are still trading smashes with each other.

The first smash came from Bersatu lawmaker Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad, who took offence with Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh lauding Thailand’s Kunlavut Vitidsarn for bagging silver in the men’s singles.
