NATO is preparing to transfer troops in the event of war with Russia.

NATO is developing several "land corridors" that will allow the transfer of American troops and weapons to the front line in the event of a serious land war in Europe with Russia, the British newspaper "Daily Telegraph" reported on Tuesday.

According to the newspaper, in the event of Russian aggression, American soldiers would be transferred to one of five countries - Norway, the Netherlands, Italy, Greece, Turkey - or to several of them, and then they would be directed east along previously planned logistic routes.

Existing plans assume that in the event of a Russian invasion of NATO, American troops would be transferred to the port of Rotterdam and then transported by train through Germany to Poland.

As described by the Daily Telegraph, if NATO forces transferred from the Netherlands were hit by Russian long-range missiles or northern European ports were destroyed, the Alliance would focus on ports in Italy, Greece and Turkey. From Italian ports, American troops could be transported overland through Slovenia and Croatia to Hungary. There are similar plans to transport forces from Turkish and Greek ports through Bulgaria and Romania to reach the Alliance's eastern flank. Plans are also being developed to transport troops through ports in the Balkans, as well as through Norway, Sweden and Finland.
