NDP tank hits traffic light: NSF responded with the appropriate SOP, says Mindef

A Leopard 2SG tank that struck a traffic light during NDP rehearsals on July 5 experienced a rare technical fault, but the full-time NSman operating it followed proper SOP and activated the parking brake to stop the vehicle, Mindef said on Friday (July 11).

Investigations revealed a previously unknown issue in the transmission system, and comprehensive fleet checks confirmed it was an isolated case. The tanks have been cleared to resume participation in the NDP mobile column.

The traffic lights was at the wrong place.

It should be moved 10 metres away to prevent same accident to happen again.
