NTU said it penalised 3 students for using AI tools in their assignments, which had non-existent references and statistics or broken web links.

The university's response comes after a viral Reddit post by one of the students disputing the findings. https://str.sg/G8gm

According to the article, ChatGPT came up with non-existing sources in its citations. Put simply, it lied.

The students did provide updated citations later.

Of cos dispute lah. There is no difference between manual search manual collate and compilation by AI tool. Just because the students completed in record time and with extreme efficiency in their written output compared to others, they are singled out and penalised
