The term "lockdown"  has been loosely used.  "Lockdown" usually means people are confined to their homes,  like a prisoner confined to a cell.  Understand the Netherland will only the essential shop to be opened.  Other non-essential shops, schools, bars, restaurants and other public venues will be closed this coming Christmas. They said the previous order in November about 5 p.m. to 5 a.m. closure of bars, restaurants, and most stores would continue until Jan. 14.

Our govt. would not want a lockdown here, cos it will be bane for our economy.  It will inevitably affect our GDP negatively and thence the bonuses of the MIW here.... crying Angry

The Chinese don't even dare to open up because they have zero confidence of their vaccine.

Out of 1.4 billion people, China still has about 300 million or 400 million people not fully vaccinated.

China cannot put the lives of these people to such a high risk.

Face with same Omicron

Why the Netherlands govt is different from Singapore?

Why Dutch leaders act and acted fast while Singapore leaders just sit and watch?
Do nothing.

Singapore politicians are paid far more than the Dutch.

Singapore cannot afford lockdowns, bad for economy. Somemore lockdowns and booster shot campaign cannot go together, if lockdown, all stay home, booster shot unnecessary as people seldom go out, thus booster campaign failed. So if they wanna promote vaccines, cannot lockdown.

If China has 300 to 400 who are not vaccinated yet, they should focus on these people, lest they are allowed to roam and  infect the whole population.. crying Angry
