Netizens criticize SM Lee’s fearmongering remarks, call for stronger opposition for checks and balances

In a recent speech, Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong warned that slimmer electoral margins could restrict the government's ability to make long-term decisions. Netizens criticized him for perceived fearmongering ahead of upcoming election, arguing that despite a strong ruling party margin after GE2020, issues like rising prices persisted. Some called for a stronger opposition to ensure better checks and balances.

A country whereby leaders initiate fearmongering is not worthy to be a leader. Leaders showing an upper hand is a failure and not fit to be a leader. It wil lead the country to nowhere.

Woody Goh once declared that the need for an effective check and balance is a lie since Pay And Pay are supposedly capable of being their own check and balance as they are an "honest" govt. Both have turned out to be lies.

The skillset of Temasek and GIC investment managers needs to brush up completely. Their long term investments look like liabilities.

SM Lee is making up a non-starter argument or position of defence based on a cheap and weak argument that the opposing viewpoint does not actually present or defend. Think of it as a type of "boogeyman" that is not real. It is a false threat, and it holds no actual meaning. SM's argument only appeals to the ignorant.

It is impossible to garner 70% Opposition votes to win another 1 GRC.
