The first MRT line in Ho Chi Minh city is under contraction by Japanese company, almost 10 years still can’t finish, delay after delay…the MRT lines built by Chinese company in Hanoi started at same time has been up and running for nearly a year already.

SINGAPORE - Several of Singapore's first China-made MRT trains are being shipped back to their manufacturer for structural defects.

The trains, numbering more than two dozen, are barely five years old.

They were made by China Southern Railway (CSR) Qingdao Sifang Locomotive and Rolling Stock Company, which together with Japan's Kawasaki Heavy Industries, won the first contract here to supply 22 six-car trains for the North-South and East-West lines in 2009 for $368 million.

Kawasaki Heavy Industries  look after the overall train design.

Kawasaki is China's company meh?  Thinking

The consortium of GE Singapore/GE Transportation Systems/GE Transportation France/GE Transportation Systems was awarded an S$159m contract to provide the signalling system and platform screen doors.
