I do not find 9 mths wait as acceptable. If 4-6 months, it is still OK.
The population hike due to open floodgates has been around for more than a decade. Shouldn’t we open up more medical placements in NUS/ NTU the last few years? Are is this Govt just being too complacent?

if the 10 person queue, 9 persons are citizens and 1 person is foreigner, the wait is acceptable.

Up to 1,000 doctors leave the public sector for private practice every year in SG. That is why it is possible to get a same day appt to see a private specialist, but more than 6 months to consult one in a restructured hospital's specialist clinic.

They opened so many new hospitals and polyclinics yet there is shortage of doctors and nurses everywhere. Heard some of the doctors have been transferred to the new hospitals/polyclinics. To see a doctor or dentist in government hospital the average waiting time is 3 months or more. Those elderly who suffer from cancers may die if they are unable be see a specialist and get treated urgently.

Recently, I went to a polyclinic to consult a doctor over some floaters in my eye.
The doctor suggested I see a specialist, and the polyclinic referred me to the Singapore National Eye Centre.
The earliest appointment is in January 2025, a nine-month wait. I am not sure if this is the normal waiting time or if there is a shortage of eye doctors at the centre.
Perhaps the eye centre can outsource some of its workload to the private sector to reduce the long waiting time.
