The hotch potch variety of weaponry from many countries is doing more harm than good

The reason is Ukranians are trained & equipped to operate Soviet weaponry

They cant simply switch to British and American and German and French and Australian weapon systems, without  months of training just to operate them to combat level.

And lets not forget about MAINTENANCE - Spare parts, Training, Repair workshops. In wartime, these become the make or break. 

Take the American M777 Howitzers, these are made of titanium parts to reduce weight. Titanium fractures easily. Without proper maintenance & freeflow of spare parts, they are useless.

Soviet weapons are tougher. F16 need hard-paved runways. Sukhois & Migs can take off & land on earth, gravel, grass runways more adapted to wartime conditions.

And that is why the West is scouring the globe in search of Soviet weapons for Ukraine
