The Chinese gov sure know how to gently touch the raw nerve of Japan's underbelly which is historically used to be an independent kingdom.
This is a clear warning shot across the bow of Tokyo reminding it of their imperial legacy while showing the Chinese has many ways to discipline a poodle that blindly follow it American master by interfering in Taiwan St matter.
琉球国万岁!!!

Not a surprise none of the Western MSM nor our ST and CNA dare to report this visit to China...
The only news that mentioned the words "Ryukyu Kingdom" was over 3 years ago about a World Heritage temple on fire.

Okinawa was not part of Japan under Potsdam Declaration after the war…it had been under the U.S. for a few decades until giving to Japan in 1972.

"Okinawa" was an independent country known as 琉球,Luuchuu or Ryukyu. The use of the roman alphabet is relatively new for Ryukyuans, so there is no one single universally-accepted "correct" way of spelling Ryukyu. After Japan invaded and illegally annexed Ryukyu in 1879, it changed Ryukyu's name to "Okinawa" in an attempt to erase Ryukyu's history as an independent country
