In Singapore, retired senior army officers dun need to have experience in anything but will still be able to parachute into good jobs.

The govt only needs people to keep watch on operational issues and these army officers are perfect for them (not I think, but the govt thinks so).

I think these mercenaries are engaged by US as part of the assisting programme. US cannot send their own army so they engage mercenaries for Ukraine. Last time one of my navy radio operator was engaged in Singapore by US as mercenary RO for service in ME. He came back with one kidney left.

Taiwan government, unlike Singapore,  did not take care of him after he retired from the armed forces?  Many retired officers in Singapore managed to get employment elsewhere, either other government departments or private sectors.

You are right about Singapore government taking care of retired armed forces personnel but they have to be of high calibre or high post in the army. 

For many like this Taiwanese soldier, his position basically are not that high. Therefore the government will not take care of him or people with his same rank.
