PM Albanese promises double tax cuts for Aussies: Can Singapore do the same?
#1

Anthony Albanese has pledged to more than double tax relief for Australians on the average income in a suite of low- and middle-income tax cuts paid for by trimming benefits to high-income earners.

At the National Press Club on Thursday the prime minister will defend Labor’s plan by arguing it will still deliver “a tax cut for every taxpayer” and that modification of the stage-three tax cuts was “the right thing to do” in changed economic circumstances.

"The Government has announced it will deliver tax cuts to all Australian taxpayers, to provide cost-of-living relief.

From 1 July 2024, the tax cuts will: reduce the 19 per cent tax rate to 16 per cent."

No good reasons so no GST hike - while others can't live without it.

Australia highly ranked as one of the most liveable and happiest country in the world.

"Singapore personal tax rates start at 0% and are capped at 22% (above S$320,000) for residents and a flat rate of 15% to 22% for non-residents.

To further increase the resilience of taxes as a source of government revenue, Goods and Services Tax (GST) was increased to 9%"

Spore’s GST is still lower than Australia’s 10%  despite of 3 hikes.

Australia’s opposition party is against the tax cut...so it may not go through in the end. Talk only no action.

Singapore kept income tax low and complaining others are high

Now, Aussie cutting income tax rates, Singapore raised GST.

Where's the logic?

The reason Australian PM wants to cut taxes is because cost of living is too high, people not only are unable to own a house but also can’t afford sky high rental. Fortunately this is not the case in Spore, life is still cheap in Spore comparing to Australia. 1percent GST hike is nothing, many stores absorb the GST hike.

The cut is too small, impossible to beat high inflation downunder.

If you are earning $200k per year, what is $9k tax cut to you? If you are a low incomes, a few hundreds of tax cuts also not much, not e ough to pay a monthly rental that is $2500-3500

Singapore raised GST to 9% will have a significant impact on inflation adding to higher costs of.living (generally lowering standard of living).
Singaporeans feel the pain.

While Australia PM cutting income tax rates has no effect to either inflation or costs of living

Aussie Lower income earners will benefit most..

Our income and corporate taxes are low already

PAP should learn 2 THINGS from them instead-

1) Work Pass processing takes 10-12 mths

2) Ombudsman

Why do we need 5 Mayors and 80 PAP Ministers?

Some politicians saying GST vouchers given to lower Income earners will minimise impact on higher inflation and costs of living.

If that's so, why don't they keep GST unchanged?
