Have you googled his background? His family wasn't exactly poor though not very rich either.

Many of us here are boomers whose mother had not attended school before whereas Lawrence Wong 的mother was a school teacher. Of course it's not a guarantee that the child will grow up well. Amos Yee 的 mother 也是当老师的但是他变坏了。
