Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba has decided to resign to avoid a split within the ruling Liberal Democratic Party, public broadcaster NHK said on Sunday.

He refused to step down but the party wants him out…he performed poorly in recent election.

The fact the group that wants him out perform even worse than Ishiba fraction but
