A convicted sex offender who drove 100 miles to sexually assault a schoolgirl has been jailed for 15 years.
Aaron Scanlon, 30, drove from his home in Rochdale to the victim’s house in Darlington, arriving just after 8am.
He had previously groomed the victim during “lengthy phone calls” where he told her he loved her.
When the victim left her house Scanlon told her he would take her to school but instead drove her to a secluded layby and sexually assaulted her.
