The Big Read: Faced with fatigue and rush to meet orders, food delivery riders grapple daily with road safety risks

It was revealed in Parliament earlier this month that five food delivery riders died on the job in the past 18 months. Among the 12 riders whom TODAY spoke to, all except one said that they have either been involved in accidents or experienced close shaves on their deliveries. Risk factors include long hours and fatigue, as well as the rush to fulfil orders to meet targets or gain incentives.

Things have improved in Singapore....our quality of life is improving?....

It is a fact that more and more Singaporeans take up gig economy jobs delivering food and drivjng phv.

Where the foreigners displaced them in jobs  it does not matter.
Putting more people in the same island and foreigners holding professional jobs and competing for housing and cars with higher pay means the Singaporeans have to move down.

We are essentially creating a gap and worsening it. 
The reality we are in a competitive market for housing and services. Cost is driven up and affordability goes down.

The concept of a growing pie is a myth when you have inequality at high levels.
