Usually the lower class or poorly nurtured families have persistent social problems. Without free plastic bags, they are trained since young to dispose and litter every where. As they grow up to be adults, this becomes a die hard habit impossible to eradicate.

Many people still buy plastic bags from NTUC and anyhow throw lah!  I'm 1 of them lah!

why dont they get scientist to come up with a 'bio-degradable' plastic bag instead of banning it

Lower income S'poreans are reluctant to pay for plastic bags which they used to get free-of-charge. Most will just pour their food waste down the rubbish chutes, and leave the poor cleaners to clear up the mess.

I did that also lah!  Whatever you eat just throw all the bones and shells directly down the rubbish chutes lah! Those rubbish collectors must clean up below lah! That's their job mah!

This is a misguided govt initiative. If the authorities want us to bag our garbage, why are we forced to pay for an essential item?
