Policy to import foreigners to create jobs for S'poreans fails on many levels
#1

If this type of policy can work other countries will also adopt them to create jobs for citizens but others don't do this and certainly not to the same extreme degree the pap has done so:

1. Foreigners are now imported for jobs S'poreans want.  In the past foreigners are imported for jobs Singaporeans don't want.

2. When more people compete for the job you want, your chances of getting it is lower.

3. Rising number of people also results in higher demand for housing and cars reducing affordability. Lowering the quality of life you can afford,

4. Importing people from developing countries willing to accept lower pay increases risk of retrenchments among Singaporeans.

5. As more are imported, Singaporeans will suffer discrimination something only recently acknowledged by govt.

6. With loss of job opportunities S'poreans will not be able to accumulate experience and even as jobs are created it goes to foreigners.

7. Having such a policy in place and being able  to import will lower the impetus to train Singaporeans to to fully meet the needs of the economy as there is a more convenient solution for the govt. It also reduces the impetus to seek out other better solutions.

Singapore has pushed this policy to the extreme as we have highest capita import of foreigners in the world resulting in highest population density in the world,

As a citizen, I just want the govt to normalise the policy and adopt the best practices of other developed countries for foreign labor.

The other day it was reported that Singaporeans are most fatigued in the world...probably from all the anxiety created from a policy that has failed on so many levels.

We want leadership able to find new paths ahead to secure our future not old tired formulas  and excuses ....

Just think about it.. In 1980s, did Singaporean complained as much about influx of Malaysian to take the jobs??

Not as much, because there are more jobs and opportunities back then, so as long as Singaporean have a 'good' job, they don't really care.

Compare then to the situation now and try to understand why Singaporean complained about foreigners now.

1. I have served the nation in a combat unit for 2.5 + 10 years. I had fulfilled my duty as a citizen, but has the country do it's part for me?
2. I don't know where the threat of CCP is, but I know the threat of CECA is already at my doorsteps
3. I had been called a CCP, JHK, Pinoy, but they never called me a CECA..

The FTAs that Chan CS kept bragging to us is worthless.

What is the point of signing 15 or 20 FTAs to create jobs when Employment Pass is issued without quota nor levies to FTs?

Why is all this an issue now? Because many Singaporeans feel the negative effects. This shows in the way they voted in 2020....and the expression of frustration on the Internet.

Instead of releasing all data pertaining to the issue....the ruling party tries to deny the problems and bully opposition MPs to silence by twisting logic and playing with words.

I always ask why we cannot train more for IT. The NUS computer science course reject many students every year and these students end up in non IT course instead.

Many years and problem was never fixed..even as demand for IT professionals goes up.why? Because they know that they can import the short fall.

for the past decade, how many ministers had already spoken about jobs for singaporeans.
and how many committees were setup to deal with the problems of locals losing their jobs to foreigners.
so after so many years, did the miw corrected or improved the situation already?
basically, answer is "NO" and they failed disastrously.
i am not even sure the miw attempts to really help the locals espc PMET or just paying lip service.

While I hate Taiwan's politics, there is something that can be learned from them..

One of it is Transitional Justice Commission. When DPP came to power, they setup the Transitional Justice Commission to basically dig out all the dirt from the previous govt..

Hopefully one fine day when Singapore change govt, the new govt can do something like this as well.. Sort of spring cleaning and clear any skeleton int the closet.. Sure got interesting findings..

1. I have served the nation in a combat unit for 2.5 + 10 years. I had fulfilled my duty as a citizen, but has the country do it's part for me?

That's why PAP is damn kumgong. They keep telling oppo that there's no free movement of Indians into Singapore but the truth is, once you get some in, they'll get their whole village in. And then they said there'll be penalties for unfair hiring practice, but all of us know how easy it is to make sure that their own preferred candidates get the job.

And why so? PAP people are living in their own ivory towers.

If we look at the jokes in Parliament, what makes PAP think/ guess/ assume that adding some new tightening policies will send SG Economy into the doldrums?

We went through Global Pandamic and Recession, and this lesson has taught us that Hell NO! Some restrictive policies will not send our economy into nosedive.

STOP THREATENING US just because you are not capable!

Hopeless Minister.

I am beginning to see how they work now.

First, they use MOE Quota on faculties for us so that MOM can issue more & more Employment Pass to FTs.

It is saying we lack the education thus no good jobs for us. Thereby importing more FTs.

MOE and MOM seems to be working Hand in Hand.

They should at least give S'poreans a better chance for university education. The chance of a Singaporean getting university education is lowest among S.Korea, TW, HK and Japan. Lowest compared with all developed European countries.

I find them "got mouth but No strength".

Keep on telling companies to have mindset shift. But on the other hand, lots of Young FTs and FTs to be hired under Employment Pass.

It is PAP who needs a Mindset Shift themselves.
