Since when is bro an American way? All along bro is used by Asians as a polite way of addressing a male. The Chinese used tai kor, ah kor or ah hia, 兄弟 and Malay used bang and Indian Tamil used tumbi, Korean oppa, Thai pee, etc. So when Asians translate it into England, they used bro.
Remember, it is the chow angmo copied from us.

It is the Australians who say "Hi mate!" and not the Austrians.
