Our President is seen but not heard. Even at the National Day Parade, you still don't hear him speak, you'd only see him nodding his head to give permission to start the parade.

There ish actually two popular theories about this at that time.

One ish that he really didn't find any issues with the reserves nor exercising his rights during his role as DPM, but only after he became president then he realized that even though president supposed to be a custodian to oversee the reserve but yet he seem to encountered many road blocks and obstacles from his comrades when he try to exercise his authority to do his job as the president, that why then that he voiced out.

Another ish a conspiracy theory that he may smell something fishy in the system and wanted to get evidences but do not have the full authority to investigate or audit further even as a DPM, so he try become the first president when learnt that the new president role ish also supposed to be a custodian of the reserve and thus should have full access to all the info he needed, and yet after erected he still find he had limited authority and was kept in the dark from many things, so he voiced out on this.

I didn't assume anything. I am just puzzled why he asked that question. He was not a back bench MP but a cabinet minister who's higher ranking than all the ministers except the Prime Minister. How could he be joining in cabinet brainstorming and making policies without knowing the numbers...?
