Russian President Vladimir Putin has sharply criticized Western sanctions against his country. These were like a declaration of war, he said. In a speech broadcast on state television to pilots of the state airline Aeroflot, Putin also warned of a no-fly zone over Ukraine. 

"Any movement in this direction is seen by us as a country's involvement in the armed conflict." It does not matter which organization these countries belong to.

In his speech, Putin once again justified the Russian invasion of Ukraine by saying that the Russian-speaking population there and Russia's own interests had to be defended. In addition, Putin has reiterated earlier calls for Ukraine to be "demilitarized" and "denazified" and given neutral status.
