Queuing ethic
#1

Just now during lunch time, I was queuing for the famous duck rice at the hawker centre. There was this guy in front of me. While queuing
, one of his colleague came to him and asked him to buy the duck rice for him. A while later, another 2 colleagues came to chit chat with him and so ‘naturally’ they became part of the queue queuing in front of me. Another while later, another colleague came and gestured the guy in front to buy for her. So all of a sudden, there were 5 orders in front of me. I told the guy, this is not correct, but this guy said there is nothing wrong to take orders for his colleagues and nothing wrong for the 2 guys to join in the queue with him.
If you were me, how do you react?

Next time you try to raise up your voice to embarrass him. Big Grin
I have tried few times before… Very effective.

跟君子才讲道理,
跟小人讲道理是行不通的。
因为小人不了解道理,
一旦了解道理,小人就变成君子,不会再这样做了。

I told him this is not ethical. He said everybody does this. He said his colleagues can text him to buy also. I said if I did not see it then ok but now I see it and so obvious is not correct. 😡🤬

He is a 小人.
If after raising your voice, he still don’t listen.
I teach you another way to cool down your temper.
In your mind, say such an uncivilised person to yourself.
No need to argue or quarrel with him.
做君子有时要吃点亏,不然你跟小人没两样。

It is indeed not correct, not sure if there were other patrons behind you? As you have not indicated in your posting.

If there were, you can try raising your voice and ask if the guy in front of you being ethical, and if he had asked for permission from the rest of the people behind you? Then continue to raise your voice by asking a question to those of his colleagues or friends, whether they would allow anyone to do the same as they have done on you if they were in your positions?

Last resort, try to go to the person in front of these lots by queue cutting them and ask whether you can stand behind him while get to queue in front of this lots.

This is something that I would do.

I didn’t raise my voice so the people behind was not aware we were arguing. The couple behind me were busy hugging each other. Well, I did said what if I did the same, he said he is ok with it. He said everybody does the same. if I am not rushing for time, I think I will 忍,but so happened I need to rush that’s where my frustration came. Anyway, think ‘忍忍 忍’ is better option. There are really many silent killer.

In my opinion, whether you’re rushing for time or not is not the consideration. Cutting queue is.

Since he has offered to allow you to cut you should simply walk to their front, after all he didn’t mind.

Tolerating such circumstances only encourage more people to do such act and ended up having ourselves to get frustrated with such act. If you’ve chose to to,e rate in the first place why then make a compliant in the first place.

If you want to make a complaint make sure the results are what you want. Just my opinion…..

Our society has changed so much that many things we tend to “tolerate” and this brought those wrong doers to continue to do as they pleased. If one can “tolerate” such thing, then don’t complaint. But if you want to complain, than do the necessary to make things right or what is right.
