1. The role of PE is created to provide a check and balance on the govt of the day.
2. To circumvent this the ruling party will try to insert it's own member to reduce the check and balance on itself.
3. Each PE, PAP member resigns to become the Elected President. Previously was Halimah, this time Tharman.
4. Voting for the PAP candidate, defeats the purpose of having an elected President as it reduces the check and balance on the PAP govt.
5! This is not a pro PAP or anti PAP view but a pro Singapore view. Because it is not good for Singapore if check and balance safeguarda are reduced in Singapore.
6. We cannot let it continue as it undermines the effectiveness of the elected president. It is not right.
7. The last election we could not do anything as no other person was qualified to run.
8. This time, it is your responsibility to vote wisely.

Tharman is perceived as pro pap while TKL is at the other end where he is supported by extremist opposition losers. NKS is somewhere in the middle.

When we talk about independence it is independence from the ruling party because the president has to check and balance the govt of the day. In the 2011 presidential election more than 60% of voters voted for TJS and TCB who were from opposition but they are still considered independent from the PAP govt.
The media has distorted the ,"independce" issue to say that president has to be independent of everything. It is an absurd characterisation.

Anyone who speak bad about govt will be deemed independent from govt. That's the definition by extremist opposition lah. Extremist opposition only have the sole motive of creating problems for govt so as to bring it down and replace the govt. This is certainly not what most Singaporeans want. That's why the extremist opposition failed miserably at every election. TKL belonged to the extremist opposition camp. That's why u see WP never endorse him.

I believed TKL is a promising person. He wil definitely makes a good President if elected. Wil continue the fine works of former Honourable Ong Teng Cheong.

Flip yr point around. Anyone who speak good about govt will be deem dependent on govt. That is the inverse of extremist opposition.
The inverse sole motive is not to create problem for govt so that the govt can rule forever. That is certainly not what Singaporean want. That is why the inverse will fail miserably in coming elections, if not this one.
1. I have served the nation in a combat unit for 2.5 + 10 years. I had fulfilled my duty as a citizen, but has the country do it's part for me?
2. I don't know where the threat of CCP is, but I know the threat of CECA is already at my doorsteps
3. I had been called a CCP, JHK, Pinoy, but they never called me a CECA..

The elected president is meant to provide an additional layer of check on the ruling govt/party.
The PAP circumvebts this by getting one of its member to resign and become the next president.
This is not right.
We should stop this way of doing things because it is wrong and bad for Singapore
