Don't think so think some top level purposely let Hamas whack so they got valid excuse to start bombing them. Think of Pearl Harbor US purposely let Japanese bomb then they got perfect excuse to enter WW2. Japanese objectives are the aircraft carrier but not a single one of them in harbor means know in advance so move them out first as those are precious assets to do counter-attack back in seas.

I heard Hamas broke the ceasefire deal liao lah!  They attacked the Israelis in ambush lah!

Probably true to certain extent but situation got differences too.
Imperial navy attack plan is poor as they also forgot to bomb the oil tanks at Hawaii,
which let US to regroup much faster. 
Meanwhile IDF though not high in alert is in usual self when meet with small arms 
and old weapons attack from Hamas.
Scale of Hamas success likely caught Isr leaders by surprise too.

The main focus of the audacious attack are the aircraft carriers. Taking them out means US have a much further distance in order to launch counter-attacks. The oil tanks are not important if the aircraft carriers are sunk as it takes time to build new or repair. No ships got oil also useless. But on hindsight you are correct if cannot find the aircraft carrier they should at the quickest time destroy the oil tanks indeed as US have lot's of destroyers, cruisers etc.

Nuclear aircraft carriers came more than 10years after the war ends.
And is still the only source for planes today.
