On November 22, RIA news agency quoted the Russian Ministry of Defense as saying that the country had deployed the Yars intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) at the Kozelsk base in the Kaluga region, southwest of Moscow.

Russia describes the Yars missile, developed in the 2000s, as one of the most advanced weapons, capable of penetrating missile shields used by the US and its allies.
