All these policies can be changed anytime but once Singapore verbally takes side, then, it's committed and Singapore must be able to support her course of action.

The common knowledge that "Russia lost in Afghanistan" is a myth. Firstly, its the USSR that invaded Afghan, not the Russian federation. Secondly, Afghanistan mujahideens did not beat Soviet forces in battle.
