Samsung Electronics stock plunges below 60,000 won, hitting 18-month low

The market is also speculating that Samsung is planning large-scale layoffs. Bloomberg, citing anonymous sources, reported that the company intends to cut thousands of jobs across Southeast Asia, Australia, and New Zealand.

Adding to the woes, Iran launched retaliatory attacks on Israel, causing a slump in the U.S. stock market overnight. Nvidia’s shares fell 3.66%, while the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index dropped 2.86%, reflecting broader concerns in the semiconductor industry and impacting Samsung’s stock performance.

It is harder for chip companies to make money in the US. The US has money-sharing requirements.

Companies that accept the subsidies must also share with the US government a portion of their profits that exceed initial projections by an agreed-upon threshold.

“The profit-sharing clause is essentially taking away what they give,” said an industry official.

About time to do a price correction when it hit the double top. As long as it it holds above 53,000 won, still got chance to recover.

US Space Force partners with India to open a microchip factory for next-gen tech
Story by Brett Tingley • 1w

The need for new cutting-edge technologies isn't the only reason the U.S. Space Force and White House are partnering with India to develop a new semiconductor factory.
Currently, the world's largest producer of semiconductors is Taiwan, but geopolitical tensions with China have been compelling Western nations to seek new supply chains elsewhere. China claims Taiwan as part of its own, and fears of a Chinese invasion of the island nation have been rising for years.
To that end, President Biden signed the CHIPS Act in 2022, which provided $52.7 billion of American investment in semiconductor manufacturing and research to "keep the United States the leader in the industries of tomorrow."
This week's partnership with India stems from that act.

Us govt may want  In to replace Tw in chip
so cannot underestimate
only thing is Us corp thinking the same, will remain to be seen.

Only Taiwanese has the knowhow and ethics to build the high end chips. Even American foundry can't do it. Lower end is taken by China.

Who will teach India? Where will India get the raw materials?

True, that is why Us Corp unlikely to follow their govt plans,
most will still have to import.
