A total of 1.1 million Ukrainians have returned to their homeland since the start of the Russian invasion on February 24, Andriy Demchenko, a spokesman for the Ukrainian border guard, said on Wednesday. Since February 24, 1.1 million of our fellow citizens have entered Ukraine, Demchenko said at a news conference. 

The spokesman did not discuss the proportion of Ukrainians who had fled the invasion or those who lived abroad before the war. However, according to data released by the UN High Commissioner for Refugees on Wednesday, the number of refugees in Ukraine has exceeded five million.
